Filipino Foods.

  1. Sinigang:
    Sinigang is a hearty soup made with either pork or prawns. It is comprised of a sour broth made from Tamarind. It is topped off with vegetables like tomato, beans and okra. It makes up a perfect dinner for winter.
  2. Kare-Kare:
    Kare-Kare is a Filipino stew that is made from a 
    1.  peanut sauce. It is usually made from oxtail meat that is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. Leafy greens are added for look and extra flavour. A popular condiment to Kare-Kare is shrimp paste.
    2. Adobo:
      Adobo is one of the most recognized Filipino foods out there. It is a meal comprised of meat cooked in soy sauce and garlic and simmered until the meat has marinated in the sauce.
    3. Lechon:
      Regarded as the best pork in the world, even by Anthony Bourdain. Lechon is basically a whole pig roasted in an open fire. The skin is made to perfection, so that it is crispy on the first bite, but melts once it goes into your mouth. No celebration in the Philippines is complete without some lechon. 
    4. Longanisa:
      Longanisa is a small, fat sausage made of pork. It is red in colour and very tasty. It is usually served during breakfast with egg and a side of fried rice.
    5. Halo Halo:
      The king of all desserts. Halo Halo is made from shaved ice, evaporated milk and topped off with an array of fruits, jellies and other sweets. Regular toppings include; kidney beans, leche flan, ube, coconut sport, sugar palm fruit, tapioca, sweet potato and jelly.
    6. Tinola:
      Tinola is a soup which is typically made from chicken that is brewed in a soup made from fish sauce, ginger and onions. Cuts of green papaya are also served with it. It is a very nice soup to have when you are sick or during cold nights.
    7. Tocino:
      Tocino is made from meat that is salt, sugar and saltpepper and is usually served during breakfast with a side of fried rice just like longanisa.
    8. Batchoy:
      Batchoy is a noodle soup made with pork organs, crushed pork cracklings, shrimp, vegetables, chicken breast, beef loin and round noodles. 
    9. Pancit Palabok:
      Pancit palabok is a noodle dish with a shrimp sauce and is topped with shrimp, boiled pork, crushed pork cracklings and egg.
